The Jim Moran School of Entrepreneurship announces the opening of Drip Drop Fitness, a student owned fitness studio disguising workouts through dance, music, and an energetic atmosphere. Summer Calenberg, FSU graduate and current MBA candidate, was on a mission to find an affordable, fun place to work out in Tallahassee that wasn’t the typical gym atmosphere. After attending many local facilities and classes, she decided to create Drip Drop Fitness. Drip Drop Fitness was designed to be not just another fitness studio but a place to connect, get motivated and have fun.

According to Calenberg, “Dance experience is not required, so come as you are. Whether you have two left feet or 10+ years of professional training, we promise you will be hooked in no time and our classes will keep you coming back for more!”

Summer has also consulted with the Business Law Clinic at FSU headed by Professor Richard Benham, Entrepreneur in Residence in the College of Law, where she received assistance from third year law students on contracts and other legal documents. Two other professors she has received helpful advice and mentorship from are Dr. Christiansen, Department Chair of Finance and MBA Director, and Dr. Trammell, Senior Lecturer, both of which teach in FSU’s College of Business. She was also one of two students accepted into Domi Station’s Get Started spring cohort class, and has become a recent member of the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce.

“The Jim Moran School of Entrepreneurship Center for Student Engagement was so helpful in getting me started on the right track. Wendy and McKenzie provided amazing advice, resources for funding, pitch competitions, and local connections. Through guidance from my classes, professors, and FSU’s entrepreneurial resources, along with influential people in the Tallahassee community, and with the support of my family and friends, Drip Drop Fitness became a reality,” said Summer.

Summer, West Palm Beach native, received her bachelor’s in retail merchandising & product development with a minor in business in 2016. She will be graduating this May with her MBA from FSU.

“Summer is one of the most motivated student entrepreneurs that has come through our doors. She first contacted us in December, and in four short months she has found a location, leased a building, renovated the space, hired contractors, and opened for business, all while pursuing a master’s degree,” said Wendy Plant, the Director of the Center for Student Engagement and Entrepreneur in Residence at the Jim Moran School of Entrepreneurship.

The official opening date and ribbon cutting was held April 7th, 2017.
