Blackstone LaunchPad Ideathon Challenge

The Blackstone LaunchPad Ideathon provides students with an opportunity to exercise their creative problem solving skills and win $100! The Ideathon Competitions are held in the FSU Innovation Hub on Fridays from 12 PM - 1 PM and are sponsored by Jim Moran College of Entrepreneurship and Blackstone LaunchPad.

6 competitions will be hosted during the Fall 2024 semester:

 

The competition will be an open floor idea pitching format. Present an innovative, impactful, and feasible solution to ANY existing problem. Solutions may include business ideas, physical inventions, services, systems, apps, etc.

Orlando Magic Innovation Sprint

 

The Orlando Magic Innovation Sprint at FSU engages and inspires students from all disciplines to offer innovative solutions to a real-world sports business challenge. The Magic are asking FSU students to help them address a current, high-priority challenge and are sponsoring cash prizes to reward those who propose creative, actionable solutions. Students will work in teams on campus, so build your own and register together or register on your own and let us help you find your tribe at the event.

This competition will span over three days 

  • Friday, Sept. 13th, Design Thinking Workshop at the FSU Innovation Hub
  • Friday, Sept. 14th, Competition at the Jim Moran Building in downtown Tallahassee, 111 S Monroe Street
  • Friday, Sept. 15th, Competition at the Jim Moran Building in downtown Tallahassee, 111 S Monroe Street

Winners will move forward to Round 2 on October 18th.

 

Eligibility 

  • Open to all FSU undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Individuals or teams may apply.
    • Students may participate in only one team.
    • Each team will present one proposal.
    • Team size is restricted to between 3-5 students.

 

Judging Criteria 

All teams will have 8 minutes to present with 5 minutes of pitch time and 3 minutes of Q&A with the judges.

  6. Team

 

Participating students will test their creative talents as they develop their proposals through an energetic weekend working with experiences startup mentors and innovation experts. There is no cost to participate, and $3000 will be awarded to the teams judged to have the best proposals. The first place team will also have a chance to earn an additional $10,000 and an exclusive "Magic Experience" by competing against teams from other Florida Universities.
